Well, frankly, then both LJ and MS can suck giant hairy donkey balls and I'll stick to other services. They're not getting permission to e-mail me garbage I don't want. We call that SPAM.

Oh, and it's technically a contract of adhesion.

Could be more heinous; the wording gives the impression you can unsubscribe, which the first email would probably have easy instructions about. It's opt-in, so it doesn't raise my hackles much.

That does seem as MS will own LJ by time... and I don't know where to go then...

I wouldn't worry about that--I doubt MS has any interest in owning LJ, even though they do partnerships.
