I freakin' won the Collins Division at the EC. As the bottom seed. 15.5-6.5, +1085 (I think?), new NASPA Collins rating of 1861, $265. Quite possibly the greatest run of tiles I'll ever see in my life. I am so overrated right now. That doesn't mean I'm not enjoying the win. Good job. congrats. i was following online but got a bit confused at the end as to matchups etc.

would love to see some games if you post them. looks like it was a great division.

also, is the tourney also wespa rated?

On the last day (today), the top 4 players got paired off in a playoff-style format; 1 vs 4 and 2 vs 3 in 3 game sets, whoever won the most would move onto a best of 3 finals match in the afternoon. The losers got returned to the field to fight for 3rd place. So I beat Steve Polatnick in the finals, he got 2nd, and Sam got 3rd even though he had a better overall record. It's a format unique to the EC. I believe the tournament was going to be WESPA rated as well, but never got confirmation from Ryan on that.

I'll definitely post some games, probably later in the week when I have the energy to review. There were some crazy endgames, some that I played right and others that I butchered.

I was really impressed when I got home from busy weekend and checked the results. You totally crushed your field! Baggings or not you must have been pretty sharp to finish that well. Congrats!

I sure hope so. It should be grandfathered in. I tried to email Chief Toky whatever but his addy bounced so I wasn't able to get in touch with whoever is in charge of the ratings before the tournament. I did, however, pay the levy, and send the .tou file to Jackman.

I went to Cowfish Sunday too, but for lunch: great burger, but no Ric Flair at that time. That is just one more way in which you were a luckbox this weekend :P

Seriously man, give yourself some credit, that's a big win over a great field. Over 22 games, the results don't lie. You're good.

I think part of this is that I've only been playing this particular game seriously for 1.5 years (granted the Boggle experience makes me unique), and I'm beating guys that have been doing this for longer than I've been alive. It's just hard for me to fathom, like who am I to be killing this field, so my coping mechanism is to be overly modest.

I'm just very surprised to be having this kind of success this quickly. It's awesome though, the studying I've done certainly paid off this weekend.
