01. Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?
Much more. God, what am I doing with my life?
02. What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?
Emma/Emily, I mean, who would have thought that would work for me? And Guiding Light, I had never heard of it in January.
03. What's your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?
Oddly enough, I think it’s Mirrors (Virginal). It wasn’t one I thought anyone would like, but I felt that it managed to evoke both Emma’s self-loathing and her pride. For the first section at least I don’t even consider it fic. This is what I think actually happened.
04. Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?
Cannibalism is not sexy. Avoid in future.
05. Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?
Um… get published? I’m really going to give it a shot this year. This obviously is not a fanfic goal.
For fanfic… finish a few epics.
06. From my past year of writing, what was...
My Best Story:
Emily’s Notebooks I think it’s the most complex and interesting of my stories, though difficult to write because I have to get both the voice and the universe to ring true. And really ugly things happen, which is always an accomplishment.
Commodum Ex Inuria is actually really good too. I just reread it a bit ago and was like, “This is funny, and has a plot! Did I write this? I can’t write this well. Who wrote this?”
Story Most Underappreciated by the Universe:
Uh, besides my Food Fetish one? Human, though I was so certain it was terrible I can't blame everyone else for agreeing with me.
Story Most Surprisingly appreciated by the Universe:
Feral (Doggie-style). Everyone seems to really like Emma when she is amorous and beastly. This came out of the blue.
Most Fun: Let’s go with Good Advice (Vibrator). I love torturing JJ for her own good.
Most Disappointing: Disappointing? It seems like you have to have expectations about a fic for it to be disappointing. And being disappointed with the response to a fic doesn’t have anything to do with the fic itself. Soo, I don't know if I've been disappointed, per se, since i have no expectations (If we're talking about non fic, I would have a saga of things).
Most Sexy: I don’t think I can really judge on this one. Is anything I write sexy? I’m going to go with Big Brother actually. I think, perhaps, that It’s Hard to be a Man and The Devil You Know have hotter sex, but in some ways having people never actually touch is even more erotic.
Hardest to Write: Game Theory. I knew how it was going to end and I knew what I wanted to happen, but trying to write sex where Sara hadn’t even really been kissed before and where Cat was pregnant and wishing she wasn’t was impossible.
Most Unintentionally Telling:
Pretty Girls Make Graves (Loveaholic). I am clearly still a bit bitter from my training in literary fiction and like twisty violent endings.
And the editing scene from 9 Crimes. If I ever do become a teacher, I want to be like Emma Frost.
It's too long to not go behind a cut. This is disgusting. No wonder I haven’t gotten anything else done.
