I love this here Riververse. This was so awesome. And my baby Wilson just had to mention New Jersey. Oh Baby Jesus, protect him and House . Wilson knows exactly how to make House heel. LOL!
I just kept right on reading and smiling and chuckling until I read this:
"You know," Haight says, "we should take a little vacation. How'd you feel about a road trip?"

Then reality slapped me HARD in the face cause then I remembered this is a nightdog barks ficverse with first readers, deelaundry and blackmare
So now I'm just plain terrified.

LOL

I don't think it's that kind of ficverse, Idon. Or if it is, nobody's told me yet.

I'm happy you said that, because I was worried too. I love this verse; it has a nice warm glow to it.

We'll see what we can do. *g* I really like this 'verse and hope it talks to us some more. Also, since it's open source, maybe it will talk to someone else. :-D

Thanks so much for reading! ♥ ♥ ♥ right back at you.

all the happy platitudes spelled out in Comic Sans Serif
(shudders in horror)(at the font choice)

Thank you for usinf the fact that veterinarians, like pediatricians, have to be very good diagnosticians, attentive to every tiny detail - because their patients cannot speak (or not properly). Great point.

ETA I forgot to write how much I loved both this fic and especially the OC. I am now almost wishing that you two would write a novel about Haight Jefferson and his wife Lisa and what happens when he meets to strange people having chosen freedom and as a consequence he goes on a road trip himself. But of course you shouldn't, since otherwise you couldn't write House Wilson fics and that would be very bad.

And I'm not memming this because I'm memming the sticky post.

OT Question: how realistic is this fic? I mean, is it really possible that someone can be in a motel (i.e., not in a tent in the mountains) and still have no access to reasonable medical care? If so, is it a very rare thing, or not so rare? Because it sure sounds scary. ( ... )

There are places that don't have a hospital right in town, and you have to drive. This was one of them.

Which doesn't mean they would necessarily have been screwed if Wilson were in mortal peril. House could have called for an ambulance, easily. Wilson made him promise not to. So there was access, but Wilson is canonically irrational about hospitals was afraid, among other things, that House would get caught, so he insisted they not make use of it.

Oh, many towns do not have a hospital in Italy either. But for something simple like this one wouldn't go to the hospital (ER is meant for emergencies only): you can call 911 (actually 118) and they send a doctor, or just phone/fax a prescription to the nearest pharmacy whose turn it is to be open.
I keep forgetting that the US works with a different system, thanks for reminding me and clarifying.

Maybe we should write a novel about Haight Jefferson, detective veterinarian. *g* Seriously, I'm so delighted that you like Haight. I do love my OCs (even the Very Bad Men I sometimes write), and it makes me happy when readers like them too.

And yeah, Blackmare answered the medical-care question. That's what it all hinged on -- Wilson not wanting to be in an ambulance or be taken to a hospital. The fire department also provides emergency medical services in many small towns.

Thanks so much for reading. ♥

You faked your own death so you could run off with your boyfriend." He grins. "You crazy bastard. You crazy, crazy bastard."

I absolutely love this verse, and this was such a wonderful addition to it! Will there be more fics to come?

I hope so! I've learned never to promise anything, but I've also learned never to say never. *g* This is a great ficverse to tell stories in -- plus, it's open source, so there's always the possibility it will talk to someone else, which would be very exciting!

Thank you so much for reading! ♥ ♥ ♥

I love this verse so much (and it's my canon, BTW)!

I appreciate how you put so much effort into OCs, making them true characters ... Viewing H/W through a well thought-out OC can be very interesting. And I love (if I'm correct in this) that Haight and Lisa parallel H & W -- Haight being very observant and pretty stubborn about solving a puzzle...but hearing, and often listening to, the voice of his "conscience" Lisa. Thank you for writing this : )

*beams* One of the great things about OCs (besides the pure joy of creating them) is exactly that -- you get to view House and Wilson through new eyes, and listen to them with new ears. There are times when we know how House is going to react to something Wilson says or does, and vice versa. But not when it's an OC. When you've got an OC you're throwing a new element into the mix, and sometimes? People will admit things to strangers they'd never tell their best friend. It opens up whole new avenues of exploration. :-D

And yes, Haight and Lisa do parallel House and Wilson. Even if I totally hadn't thought about that while writing. *g*

Thank you so much for reading! ♥ ♥ ♥

You know, I felt like your Virginia story could slot right into this 'verse if a reader wanted to imagine it that way, too. Man, I loved that. I may have forgotten to mem it, and I need to.

It's been a delight for me to see Haight come to life. All I had of him was that he was a vet, and a line or two of his dialogue that I got down, and the next thing I knew, Nightdog had this living, breathing person out of that. With a name and a history and all. I noticed the similarities in him and House, too, and I'm really happy someone else caught that.
