Nigel, I have some theories as to why there are so many good Ultimate players among the Scrabblers, and no less than Stephen Sneed agrees with me on quite a few of them (as you probably know, I have been mentoring him in Scrabble down here in Texas and he is becoming quite successful at it

I would tend to agree with the bulk of that too. I love the bizarre connections between different, seemingly unrelated activities, like math, music, sports... they offer great insight into the workings of the brain. fascinating.

I love those bizarre and counterintuitive connections in seemingly unrelated things, too. Some of this has a lot to do with the multiple applications of human aptitudes. Here's one: look at a rose sometime and think of an apple---see if you can't taste the apple. Many photographers are strong in tonal memory, many people into the making of fine instruments have strong pitch discrimination, and ConradBB will be happy to know that there is a correlation between rhythm memory and the ability to spell.

One more little corollary to my theories on Ultimate and Scrabble: if they hold true then you better watch out for Stephen Sneed in Scrabble---he may even surpass you;)!
