I'm finally starting to feel better. Finally! Starting is the operative word here, but starting is better than the alternative. I even managed to get out of the house on Saturday night, when
owldolatrous and his husband took me to see
Milk.

My (small) personal connection to the story is that I was in San Francisco attending a high school debate convention on the day Moscone and Milk were assassinated. I remember seeing Dianne Feinstein (now U.S. Senator from California), as then-president of the SF Board of Supervisors, announcing the shocking news. I only dimly remember the gay rights issues of the day, but I do recall the controversy about the Briggs Initiative, and how unfair it seemed to me, even then.
But yes: see the film, remember, and continue the fight for our civil rights.

I seriously got choked up, Masao. Your solidarity, as a straight person, means the world to me. Thank you.
(And some day you should tell me about that day! I remember watching stuff about it on the news, from Tennessee. And not understanding why the orange juice sales lady (Anita Bryant) hated gay people, but that's about it.)
