Ooh, look at all the Audio posts on the Network. I wonder why that is. [A quiet chuckle.] "Look". All right. Not the most accurate choice of word, I admit.

So...is this it? Really? This is the entire curse? I'd expect at least a few Triffids scattered about but no-one's reporting them. Of course, everyone who's encountered one could be dead. [He ( Read more... )

What's a Triffid, and how hard can I punch it?

A fictional, ambulatory plant from a novel by John Wyndham in which nearly everyone on Earth goes blind, thus my automatic associations. It depends on how hard you can punch, really. And if you'd be immune to its poison.

I'll have to check out the book then.

Well, I'm pretty strong. You know the mountain that grew up here?

Wyndham can be rather interesting on occasion.

Should I?

There are Triffids in the Underground- I killed a few once.

And yes, some of these curses are really quite simple. It still seems to have the desired effect.

Oh really? And they aren't taking the opportunity to come out? How very disappointing of them.

Of inconveniencing people slightly?

I don't think there's very many of them down there. I've only seen three the entire time I've been exploring it. They're not exactly the most mobile things, either.

Mild panic. Some people are certainly being loud about it. It honestly doesn't bother me much, to tell the truth.

No... But one could hope they originated in Xanadu.
[There's a pause here. The Master probably has a very wistful expression on his face.]
It's really not an issue, blindness. Especially as it will only last for one day. Two to five at most.

I think being blind's enough for one curse day. We don't really need monsters trying to eat us at the same time.

They don't exactly eat. They're plants. I only wondered, because it seemed applicable to the curse. It's better to be ready for Triffids than to be surprised by them.

Then we don't need plants trying to kill us at the same time?

Y'know... even when I can see, I'm pretty sure I'd be surprised by a plant that wants to kill me.

No, we don't. I have no idea why everyone seems to think that I'm promoting Triffids. I'm just mentioning them as a possibility! They're seven feet or taller. If you could see, they'd be hard to miss.

It's just not fun for you unless everyone's screaming, is it?

Such an assumption, Romana. I'm merely concerned. The mass blinding reminded me of The Day of the Triffids and I offered to rid the City of any potential infestations. I thought it was rather nice of me.

Of course. Well, I suppose we can be reassured that it appears to be merely blindness that has affected us and we have no need for your gallantry.

If you'd like.

Of course, if my prediction turns out to be right, then feel free to ask for my help. I won't hold any of your previous sarcasm or unfair suspiciousness against you.

Could be. There are apparently a few Triffids in the Underground but no-one is reporting an invasion.

I certainly don't see one~

If that changes, try and remember to mention it. I don't want to miss out on any fun.
