Session 5: Basic Information & Rules Worth Repeating

Jan 18, 2011 13:18

Hello everyone! Welcome to Session 5 at ncis_lfws . As we get more sessions under our belts we are learning what common problems are, how to fix them, and what people need from us, the mods. This is just a basic information post, as well as a few reminders about problems we've had in the past and how we resolve them. This is mostly for new people, but people are returning should probably look this over for a refresher.

  • Participants are reminded that all stories submitted must meet a 500 word minimum, unless otherwise stated in that week's challenge.
  • There will be a word count limit for each round, and will generally vary by what we're asking for in the prompt. You have a 100 word limit overage. Anything over that and you'll be required to trim your story down. Also, please be reminded that the header DOES NOT COUNT towards your final word count. I would suggest putting the  header in last so you don't get confused.
  • The header that you are required to use for every entry will be provided with every new round. You must use this header and this header only. If you do not, your entry will be sent back to you and will not be accepted until the correct format is used. All participants are reminded that you are not allowed to change the HTML in any way. If you're not sure how HTML works, please email us and we will be more than happy to help you.
  • Same goes for voting. The voting template is provided in each voting post with the HTML already done for you. YOU ARE TO USE THIS HTML AND THIS HTML ONLY FOR VOTING, OTHERWISE YOUR VOTES WILL NOT BE COUNTED. We will give you one opportunity to correct it and if you do not, your vote will be disqualified. This was a big problem in the past and if you need help, see this post.
  • The schedule for this session can be found here. If you are aware of anything now that will prohibit you from participating in a round, please let us know now. If you let us know in advance we generally tend not to use a skip for that round for you, but only if you let us know in advanced.
  • As far as skips go, you have an opportunity to earn three. One is rewarded for signing up, one for pimping the community somewhere (in an unlocked journal entry either in your own journal or a community), and one is rewarded for referring members, but only is they say that they were referred by you when they sign up. If no one refers you you can earn your third skip by also promoting.
  • All entries must be submitted by midnight on the day that they're due. If Devan and I do not put the entries up at midnight we generally allow late submission until we check the email the next day. Anything beyond that, however, will not be accepted.
  • And lastly, if you have questions, please feel free to ask. Devan and I don't bite and are usually more than willing to help you out if you need it.
