We recently received a suggestion for a Songfic challenge. Your moderators are not big fans of the form, but we love challenge suggestions and hate to discourage them, so we've come up with a variation on this one.
In the past we've done a "Music" challenge that invited you to explore the characters' relationships with music.
This time we're inviting you to explore your own relationship with music and your creativity and writing process.
The new challenge is:
SOUNDTRACK
Write a story -- or a poem, or a filk song, or a screenplay -- that's inspired by music.
A lot of people write while listening to music; if you're one of them, maybe you'll list the songs you listened to while writing it. Maybe you hear songs in your head that are playing behind your story, like a film soundtrack; tell us what they are. Or you could use song titles as section/chapter headings. Use your imagination. We won't stop you from quoting lyrics within the fic... but we'll encourage you to get creative and explore other ways to connect music with your story.

You have two weeks to post your responses. This challenge will close at midnight Eastern Time on Tuesday, June 17, 2008.
