like a desperate housewife without a husband . . .

Spent last night playing happy homemaker. We moved the vast majority of my stuff, (we being me, MS, CW, Dr. F and M's son D). Managed to get most of it there but will have to go back next week for at least one more truck load. Somehow, despite moving into a larger apartment with no furniture, the place filled up before the old one was emptied. ( Read more... )

Good, that's what I was hoping, but I didn't want to blow out my harddrive to test that theory. (Especially since I never got around to backing up files first, errm. Very busy with packing and all that.)

I'm glad they cleaned it up to, and figured they probably didn't steal it since the orchid was much more valuable than the $1 African violet, but I'm just kind of miffed about it. Oh well. At least my Emerson House senior glass survived (though right now a sauce pan would be more useful.)

you should be ok with the cords. these days, if a cord really HAS to go somewhere, they design the plug's shape so that it can only fit where it's supposed to go.

sorry to hear about the plants and the candle. i suspect you're right- they probably broke it while putting in the new windows and hoped you wouldn't notice among all the moving-in clutter.

congrats on moving in! send us a mass email at some point with your new address! :) and i remember well that feeling when the new place is in many ways less livable than the old. that will pass quickly, tho.

Thanks, that was my hope, but I wanted to make sure. :) Since you, Spandrel and D all concur, I'll try again tonight.

Thanks for the update, I was wondering how moving was going. What did the yuppy candle look like? I know you told me once. Good luck getting the apt together, wishing you the best from here, and here's hoping you find the silverware quicklike.

Everything is fine here. Sorry I can't help about the Ikea, but my thumb is blacker than yours. Little Bit is getting very frustrated because she wants to plant flowers outside, and I keep telling her to go ask Grandma. I'm bound to kill anything green within a month.

Do gas stove pilots really blow out? I'd be in trouble if that happened. Okay - stop snickering, I've used it twice this month. Really.

Yes, they do blow out. Although it was working fine when I got back, so either it was just me doing it wrong or there is a gas elf that comes in and relights it ( ... )

MY dad is pulling the three tulips up tomorrow, LB is going to have a fit, but she also wants a front porch to put a little swing on. I tried to get Dad to wait until the fall, but the madman wants everything done *now*.

I think he's more worried about his health than he's admitting. He put in the post for the front gate, so the yard will be 90% closed in, Little Bit is already carrying on about a dog.

I finally asked Mom about the flowers, we're going flower shopping the first week of May. And yes I know, that's even funnier than me cooking.
