I love this. Especially the second to last paragraph with the whole stage metaphor.
Instead Rachel, their own warrior princess in all but leather skirt and shining chakram, had exited the stage in the final act- stealing the remainder of Tobias's lines and dimming Jake's spotlight on her way out.
Instead Rachel, their own warrior princess in all but leather skirt and shining chakram, had exited the stage in the final act- stealing the remainder of Tobias's lines and dimming Jake's spotlight on her way out. Even Cassie wouldn't discuss her former best friend and near perfectly scripted foil once the final curtain had fallen-
Oh, oh oh. I love this. Perfect characterizations of both Marco and Rachel, thoughout. Gorgeous. <3
But this was a lovely ficlet to bring me back. Marco angst usually turns me off, but for some reason, I loved this one. Rachel stealing the spotlight, taking away Tobias's lines...GAH. Wonderful.
Awww, thank you! I don't envision post-war Marco typically angsting so much 9because Jake and Tobias SO have that covered like WOAH); honestly I feel like Marco's in an interesting stage of NOT taking a closer look at his not!superficial emotions 99% of the time... Until they sneak up on him like this.

I just... wow, that last paragraph. This is actually making me tear up (only genuinely emotional things do that, and it's due as much to the perfection of Marco and Rachel's characterisation and the quality of your writing as to the angst).
OH, and Turin (in my icon!) is perfect for this fic! ;)
I'm glad you dug this up- I forgot how much I loved this piece. (As I remember, it practically wrote itself.) THIS is my favorite headcanon for unrequited Marco/Rachel in the 'ship that never sailed' sense.
Hmmm... Now I'm tempted to try and bring back the 'verse in my head... Thanks for the kick-start!
Your icon is ♥ AND applies to wayyy too much of my Ani-fic. What's he from?
I adore unrequited Marco/Rachel when it's done well. That way I can keep Tobias in the picture but still have Marco wishing for Rachel (yeah, I'm sorry, Marco, I like my angst.)
Oh, please, please bring it back! XD This is such a beautiful piece.
It's Túrin from the Silmarillion by J.R.R. Tolkien. I won't spoil it for you, but at one point he goes around calling himself "Túrin, Master of Doom" (doom as in 'Fate'), trying to change his destiny. At the end when his fate finally catches up with him despite his best efforts, someone else calls him, "Master of Doom by doom mastered," and this icon is a play on that. Because the amount of angst in this guy's story/life is unbelievable. You think Tobias is emo? He has nothing on this character.

You know, there seems to be a large crossover of R/T to R/M fans that fit this model exactly. *nods*
It is officially added to my fandom check list!
Ahhhhh interesting. Now the two of them meeting would *obviously* make for wonderful crack fic then, yes? ;)
