Ukrainian is arguably closest to the old Slavic language, with Russian and Belarusian being more deviant from what we spoke as the collective Kyivan Rus'. I don't mind that their languages are different, I actually think it's really lovely that they've each got their own.

I just wish Russia hadn't kept trying to make me stop speaking my own. Ah, but I guess that's in the past... still...

Do you still think so? I mean, it was the two of you that moved away to Lithuania and Poland's house for some time, and left me alone... Don't you think they could have had some influence on your accents?

Though I do suppose its still nearly the same... I can understand my sister's languages, but I can not speak it-- its strange, sometimes...

The variations of French in countries across the ocean are left over from the days of the Empire, so naturally the language has been left to change over the years. French spoken in Africa could be counted as best understood back at home, a matter of distance, I suppose, but Seychelles' Creole is a little more difficult. But it does sound cute.

Canada's French seems to cause the most problems, haha... As a result of being so close to English-speaking regions, it's similar to American English, like my French with an English structure... Sadly enough I can understand that, but the accent eludes me. Désolé, Canada! I know you tried!

Spoken Japanese does not derive from any particular source. There have been suggestions of a link to Kankoku-san's language, and I have lifted much from Chuugoku-san, but much of the oral culture was developed in isolation.

However, my writing system is very much linked to that of Chuugoku-san's. I have detailed more about the way my language has developed in this post, and I do not wish to invite his criticism by saying too much more in the way of my opinion..

Also, I am waiting for Kankoku's response to this topic with interest....
