I'm a little disgusted right now. Most of the message boards are flooded with talk about Katrina. It's great that people care and are concerned. But so many threads about about the pets and animals affected and how to donate to help them. WTF? Okay, animals are great and all, but how about helping the people first?!?

I don't get it.

My dad just called. Everything went smoothly. The tumor was the size of a golfball, and they were able to remove it cleanly. My mom should be "up and about" next week. She will need to stay in the hospital for 3 days, and they are planning on removing the other tumor in 10 days ( Read more... )

I have so much nervous energy and so much to do that I feel like I'm on speed. I only get like this when I am really stressed. Otherwise, I am a totally low-energy person. called and told me she deserves a trophy for having 4 tumors/3 types of cancer. Both tumors are malignant. Fortunately, they were caught early and are contained enough that the docs don't think she will lose kidney function. They are also testing her lungs to see if they are clear ( Read more... )

Mom called. They ruled out cysts, so now they have to biopsy to see whether the tumors are benign or malignant. Nothing to do but wait. I'm more worried than she is, but that is because she doesn't fear death. I, on the other hand, fear my life without her in it ( Read more... )

I'm trying hard to stay optimistic right now. My extremely clean living mom (no drinking, no smoking, no fatty foods, high fiber diet, high activity level) has already survived 2 bouts of cancer, and now they have found suspicious masses in her kidneys.
