This is just brilliant, every word of it. I was cringing all the way through the section with John because I just knew how it was going to end.

And I love this description of Jenny: She is young and old, impulsively brave and terrified of items as basic as toothbrushes, with a wicked sense of humour and absolutely no knowledge about the most basic human interactions. Spot on perfect.

i particularly liked jenny's fear of toothbrushes, and eleven's oh so brief cameo, and the gradual forgiving of jack harkness (though how sad - if realistic - that he can't remember ianto's name).

Thanks! I tend to see Jack as someone who thinks he's going to do the right thing, and then misses the mark, sometimes spectacularly. (In my head, Alice and Ianto are both very aware of this, having been on the receiving end of his good intentions.)

Ooh! I am home now (more or less) and there was, indeed, fic waiting for me! Man, I ought to make requests like that more often, especially if they result in stuff like this. Because this is just lovely. Beautiful characterization for both of them, with exactly the kind of adventures they ought to have! It's cute, and fun, and ouchy, and left me with definitely moisture in my eyes.
