Hehe, I actually own 1 Lenore comic. An actual "proper" American comic, in other words: a few pages with a staple in the middle *eye roll* Not even sure anymore how I got it, it's been around since around the time I was about to go off to university. So anyway, yay, I know it!
It also always struck me as one of those things everyone likes because everyone else likes it. That being said, I think it's also a typical non-mainstream dark funny American comic. From certain other things I've read or freaky cartoons I've seen, I think the sense of humor in this (or lack thereof) might be exactly up a lot of people's alleys. Maybe we're too European? :/
I guess so? I can't put my finger to it, but in my opinion 'goth' doesn't equal randomly killing hamsters e.g. And some of the characters remind me of Tim Burton's Oyster boy book (which I loved, more my kind of morbid humor) ... Ah well, you can't like everything!
Btw, since you like it: my copy came with some prints of illustrations (26x17cm), if you want them let me know! (Maybe you got them with your books too?)
