PONYFIED!!!

Well, bat_cheva had a birthday, and I, being a geek, wanted to get her something incredibly dorky. Since she collects Martian Manhunters (don't tell), and since I'm almost as big a fan as she is (almost), I thought I'd try to find a figure she didn't have.

Hah.

After tons of no luck, and puzzling over it, and racking my brain, I recalled this site, in ( Read more... )

It was actually pretty easy, since I didn't have to add new hair. The hardest part was the head sculpt. Everything else was just paint and some shiny fabric.

I want to do more, but I am NOT getting into doing the ones where you re-hair the freaking manes and tails. HASSLE MUCH!?

But they are SO cute!!!

Her reaction was the best. I still crack up over it.

Imps of anything are awfully spiffy... dulcimeoww August 24 2006, 06:12:11 UTC
I'm not sure, but I think that an alcohol-based marker such as Copic might bond to the material the pony's made of as a sort of stain and be able to give you a smooth, even coloring as a base coat... there are airbrush tools for the Copics, I know, I use them for wig coloring (way wider range of color than wig dye, and it doesn't even greatly compromise the texture!).

On the other hand... paint is clearly your medium of choice (and you're awesome with it... those little outlines on the red bits are amazing), so I suppose this is really more of a speculative comment. ^-^'

That's definitely a thought, though, for ponies that don't require resculpting or rehairing, where you just want to change the body color or add different highlights to the hair.

I know a lot of people dye their ponies to change their color as long as they aren't resculpting them, rather than coat them with paint, which can be tricky and doesn't always look as good.

Officially one of the coolest things I've ever seen.

I vote for a Cheetara pony next. Or Skeletor.

Oh wow, you are a very talented lady! if not horribly, horribly twisted to be able to decapitate and de-hair a lovely horse shaped bundle of joy. But hey, you could make a Little Pony Justice League.....
