I have ordered the book I think the stuff comes from from the library in Lancaster. Hopefully I'll receive it by Thursday for the unhappy task of trying to identify each

I read an article on the BBC website yesterday which argued that people shouldn't be too penalized for a certain amount of plagiarism because it shows they are learning about the subject, even if they don't acknowledge their source. Boggle. I think it just meant school students, but still...

I had a student once (many years ago) who copied an entire chunk of an essay from an encyclopaedia, in longhand. How could I tell? He had left in the cross-references!
