Seriously. Seth and Rodney are teddy bears compared to Hideki. I've just about forgotten my reasons for wanting Rodney fed to piranhas when reading this. Hideki just... I have no words.

Would it be a surprise to say that this is pretty much Hideki at his cuddliest? Like... he's bothering to pretend, and he generally has very little time and effort for that. I mean... You'll see.
As for Seth and Rodney, I think it's the problem of PoV characters where you end up sympathising with them more than more 'good' characters who you never see through. To remember why you should hate Rodney you need to see through the eyes of Juan mostly, but he's dead, gone and happy now...

Hideki is even worse than Seth and Rodney. You've created another great villain here. The psychological torture he's capable of, with absolutely no remorse, is truly frightening.
I really, really loved this:
"Think, for example, of all the ways society shames people sexually: to wait until love or marriage, not to do things on their own, not to even think about it... But they do it anyway. They feel the shame and carry on. In fact, you get shame spirals where people do something and feel bad about it and then do it again because of the shame they feel. I doubt it'll stop anyone."
