I know I've been unusually silent on the topic of my ocean crossings, and while I do have thoughts, I'll have to save them for later. For now, however, suffice it to say that I had an excellent visit home, and that upon my return to Edinburgh, for once, I wasn't quite screaming to leave. I have just spent half the night shivering on a park bench in a Slovenian train station in the middle of nowhere with Steph and two random English people and their tandem bicycle because Croatia was a wasteland and we decided to leave it immediately. Budapest never really got any better. It's weird how a mood abroad can completely kill a city like that. I really wanted to like it; I really wanted for my tram ride down the scenic Danube, or for our trip to the Communist statue park to make Budapest good, but it never happened. In spite of our best efforts, we never managed to get drunk enough to stumble home in Prague. Yet perhaps that's because we managed to stumble everywhere else. All of the good food we found by randomly wandering.
