Dude, it did poorly in the ratings?! That's because NBC has DOOMED it to fail by running Heroes opposite House. I don't know why they want it to fail (especially now that ZQ's achieved superstardom), but that's what happened.

Actually I think that it was a combination of NBC's arrogance (or desperation) and FOX's casual domination. There's not a show on that can beat House in its timeslot. It's the march of death.

No fifth season for us.

I don't know why they want it to fail, either, but they seemingly have since the second season didn't get very good ratings. Ever since, the network and the media have been killing it. I don't even read anything about the show ANYWHERE except in the fan areas anymore, because I know it'll just be a lot of nastiness and viciousness. Someone decided a while ago that Heroes deserved to die, and they've been doing everything in their power to make sure it happens. I still think it's remarkable that there was a third season, let alone a fourth.

House is a brilliant show. I was a devoted viewer when it was on at 8 and Heroes was on at 9, but I will stand by my show til the bitter end and catch House repeats on USA.

The 1st episode of Supernatural's 3rd and 4th seasons didn't rate high on the viewing scale, but the ratings picked up. Here's to hoping that we can turn it around and go out with a bang.

Just... Heroes is one of the most original shows ever! Even when it sucks, it's better than 95% of what's on TV. Why kill it? WHY?! Assholes.

I wish I could still enjoy House. I watched the first season over the course of a couple of days; I couldn't stop watching it, even when I had to stay up all night to do it. But by the middle of the third season, I was frustrated and fed up - and worst of all, BORED. And I worship the ground Hugh Laurie stands on; Robert Sean Leonard, too, and I love Lisa Edelstein. But it started chasing its tail way too soon, and the show's whole approach to addiction and chronic pain made me way too angry to keep watching.

Supernatural is that weird anomaly of a show whose ratings have just grown and grown (and how I love that show, too, although they are starting to give Castiel the EXACT same personality arc in every episode he's in, and I'm getting annoyed about it). Still: in Kripke we trust.

Heroes is rilly rilly rilly expensive and the network it's on is circling the drain. That's why you kill it.

I loved it too. I felt so sorry for Peter, he's done just what he told Claude he could never do, cut himself off from all his friends and family. But I understand why he did it, everyone he trusted has betrayed him.

It makes sense that he would feel he had to atone for all the bad things that other specials had done, that's part of his character. I like how Noah confronted him on it. I'm hoping that Peter will make some friends soon. He's certainly going to need them when he finds out about Nathan. I really don't blame him for not returning Nathan's calls right now, even though they "made up" at the end of last season, "Nathan" is still involved in the new Company, and Peter wants nothing to do with it. I'm sure it's killing him inside though.

Exactly. It's what not only Claude, but everyone else - FANS, I'm talking to you - have demanded from him. Now we have it. And it's really painful.

I still want him to go dark, though. I really do. I don't want him making mistakes that lead to bad ends (like trusting Adam): I want him to embrace evil and destruction. I LIKE Villain Milo!

Peter's parkour-fueled EMT rescue was pretty goddamn excellent...He can't control every situation, no matter what he thinks. And he's so empty inside that I can feel it from here.

He trying to fill that hole. He’s about as empty as his apartment. I noticed this, too.

Also interesting is that when I saw Milo at Comic-Con, he was already much, much thinner than he is here. Still; looking good. His hair is gorgeous.

YASSSSSSSSS it is gorgeous. The hair on everyone this season is looking A+

Do they really think Tracy can control water remotely? FAIL. My first moment of calling bullshit. This is Heroes; it won't be my last.

I noticed this too. Noah even stood LOOKING at the water as if pontificating, “Tracy? Nahhh, couldn’t be. Tracy? Hmmm, maybe.” LOL

Of course you like sushi, SylNathan... (Which hopefully means more Wee Petrellis! Hooray! And it's not like Rena Sofer is doing anything right now.)

EXACTLY. I thought about his children too. I can only hope they show Heidi and the kids again. It just doesn’t seem right NOT to; no ( ... )

In a move that would have sliced her entire face off, Tracy just becomes water - THAT'S THE SHIT RIGHT THERE, SHOW. More of that, please. That was FUCKING COOL.

YAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSS! I loved that!

Back in Washington, SylNathan is having a serious headache, waiting by the phone for Peter to call, and staring at his coffee mug, trying to make it do something. (I guess the scenes of Nathan in his office wasting taxpayer money is to establish a visual alibi - a nice touch, but not one that will really translate to audiences on screen in a single viewing. Sorry, guys; not on this show, where you can't trust anything you see.) He's a projection of Matt's mind -

I think I might’ve LOLed during Matt/Sylar’s scenes. Funny stuff and I could tell that Zac was having a grande ole time doing those lines. I’ve never seen Sylar this…”loose”. LOL.

At the carnival, Samuel is leaning the seduction on Hiro; he knows everything, and Hiro explains why he can't do anything because of the Butterfly Effect. Samuel has sex with Hiro's mind, though, ( ... )

You're oh so welcome. It felt REALLY good to do - snarky recaps are my life's calling!

Heroes's ratings aren't that bad in the giant scheme of things, but the whole world seems to think that they are (and I guess for a network show they should be, but it's still higher than well-regarded, or at least not shit-upon shows like Medium, Big Bang, or... dare I say, Pushing Daisies. But if it's not getting HUUUUUUGE ratings, it's a flop. I'm telling you, Kring must have pissed off some people in the media, and they're out for blood and will not stop until the show is cancelled).

Robert Knepper is sex. And Ray Park is just... nom nom nom. More please more please more please MORE!

And sing along with me now: "poor Peter."

I can guess why it did badly in the ratings. I think only one or two people on my flist, besides me, watched it live. We are ALL downloading/Hulu-ing. And I don't count, because I missed the first hour.

Oh, and sorry, but he does have a bed, you see it briefly in hour one, I think when Nathan's calling. :(

mystery_sock September 24 2009, 23:03:07 UTC
He has *A* bed, but it's not the big carven monstrosity that he had in previous seasons (the one that I wrote in Ritual was one that he had inherited from Nathan, even though there's no canonical basis for that. I just thought it'd be nice. The reason why I said "yay prompts" is because - if he DID get the bed from Nathan, it would be just one more thing to remind him of Nathan and he obviously wants to pretend that Nathan doesn't exist).

I'd say a good 75% of people didn't even know the premiere was happening. The world's given up on the show. It can't be helped. I've never actually enjoyed a high-rated show, so it doesn't bother me anymore - that, and the fact that I won't just read anything I see about the show anymore because it is, almost without exception, viciously negative.

When did Peter turn into this monastic guy who lives entirely on a diet of justice, violence, and hot Asian soups? If only Claude could see him now - he'd be so proud! (And yet it makes me tear up. I miss vulnerable, sad, lost Peter. It would have been cruel to keep him there, but I miss him anyway. That's why I own the series on DVD.) The funny thing is, they really look the same. He's a bit more worn down and a lot readier with a humorless smile, but he still looks so delicate somehow. In the face, I mean; his body is a column of muscle.

I notice this as well with Peter. Though to me he seems more vulnerable now than he did before. Maybe not as naive or trusting but still vulnerable

Noah warns Peter about the awesomeness of Edgar, and immediately, Peter is all over it. He is itching 24/7 to kick somebody's ass, and the more deadly and challenging, the better.

Well if there is anything that could make the boy smile...

Peter loves to put foot to ass. And who can blame him? He's SO ANGRY. He needs to take it out on somebody. And he's a little bit more subtle about it than Matt "Rage" Parkman...

Here's hoping for more Peter/Edgar battles... mmm
