All the thinky thoughts

So. I have an Issue that has been simmering on low heat for a while now with occasional flare-ups of righteous ire. To reduce it to essentials, I offered to do a thing, and once my offer was accepted, the terms were unilaterally changed in a really clumsy way, and I have since been seething over having to abide by the new terms and the way they ( Read more... )

Butthurt! Yep, I saw what you did there. :)

Bob! I'm with you. I love Bob Dylan so much for so many reasons (not the least being that his mom terrified us all as children growing up in Minnesota), but you're absolutely right about race and gender and Bob getting credit for all the people in the tradition before him. That Slate article is on point, particularly going after Dylan and the Stones and calling out the oversimplification of the "Elvis stole Rock and Roll" claim.

And I got to pull out my Bayeux-style surprise buttsex icon, too :D

*nods* I refuse to use the word "problematic," because as dear friends have reminded me, ALL FAVES ARE PROBLEMATIC. But yeah, if one can't discuss such delicate things at such an important cultural moment (a singer/songwriter has NEVER won a Nobel in Literature before), when can one?

Bwa ha ha ha ha! I didn't even catch the Bayeux!Buttsex icon. I'd say that William the Conqueror is rolling over in his grave somewhere, but he probably expected this development.

There are some great Bayeux memes out there. The field in which I grow my fvcks is always useful, but this one sums up this election cycle a bit better for me.

Ah, yes. The I-wanted-to-but-now-I-don't-but-I-will-anyway cycle. Good times, good times. I hope your solution is successful because being in that situation really sucks.

LOL EXACTLY THIS! Thank you for the shorthand. :D I like the solution because it serves the dual purpose of pointing out the annoyance in an extremely polite way while justifying doing so as a means of complying with the new terms.

Aw, Dolly. <3

Hey, apropos of nothing, really, are you familiar with the band Puscifer? Apologies if I've asked you this before, my memory left the building sometime over the summer.

I was actually looking for a "We've Got Elegance" gif (for the elegant solution), but sassy parade Dolly was too fun to pass up.

No, I don't know them (though I just started listening to "The Remedy" now on the YouTubez), and I don't think you've asked before. I'm enjoying it thus far!
