Lace 'em up

This weekend, Stonewall and PaddyPower joined forces to campaign against homophobia in football.  "Right behind Gay Footballers" (#RBGF on Twitter) involved sending rainbow boot laces to every professional club in the UK, asking the players to wear them in their boots this weekend to show their support.  There are approximately 5,000 professional ( Read more... )

That is awesome--are whole teams taking the plunge into rainbow laces?

I think most teams left the decision up to the individual players. I remember reading about a few teams who had a number of players showing their support. Everton were the first to announce their support, saying that they "don't tolerate discrimination of any kind and the whole club works hard to get that message out", so maybe they had the whole team involved. I don't recall seeing any overly negative press, which is good, but it'll only work (in the long term) if they build on the campaign and it's not just forgotten next weekend!
