Reviewing my stack of videos part II: Hoshigumi Berubara 2001 Oscar to Andre Hen

To be completely honest, for about the first half an hour I didn’t get into hoshigumi’s version. Other than the highly squeeful appearance of Emi Kurara and Hizuki Hana as young Oscar and Andre, there was too much dialogue (at least in the beginning) and I felt like the script was relying too much on the audience already knowing the characters.

Aahhh, I have this but I still haven't watched it. ^^;;; I feel sort of... obligated? to watch more BeruBara at some point, but yeah, one really has to be in the mood for it. ^^;;;

Yeah, exactly. This one sat on my shelf for a while before I happened to be in the mood to watch it the other night.

I have a love-hate relationship with Zuka's Berubara. In that I tend to dislike just about everything about it except for two Andre/Oscar scenes. ^^; Of all the ones that I've seen, however, this was the least.... horrific in terms of costuming, makeup, special effects, and gadgets.

The pegasus/carriage? Terrifying in every incarnation down through the decades. It cracked me up when they had all of those OGs piled onto the carriage going around the rotating stage in Berubara 30. You could tell at least 80% of them were thinking: I'm too old to have to deal with this anymore. XD

Well, considering that Marie Antoinette was based on an actual person (memorable line: "let them eat cake!"), no, I don't really think that she's supposed to be a likable character. ^_^;
