Noticing a girl walk in and sit in the corner, since Edgar seemed busy with the girls he moved towards her, "Erm." coughing he looked to Rukia, "Hi." He stood there a hand on his hip, "Why don't you join us over there?" Luke motioned to the tables that were starting to be filled. "I mean..If you want to of course."

He shrugged, "It's not like it's an exclusive gathering. People want to meet people and you look lonely over here by yourself. So why not?"

[calamitousness]

"Well, that's good," she said happily. Turning to Rukia, she shook her hand. "Nice to finally know your name, Rukia!"

[bunnyfixation]

Rukia's breath caught and she took her hand, putting it under the table to wipe it against her shorts. She coughed a bit and looked to Edgar with a hint of concern. "You were injured?"

Edgar shook his head and shrugged his shoulders. "It's nothing, M'Lady. Just a fleshwound I got in the line of duty. Nothing I wouldn't do again in a heartbeat."

[bunnyfixation]

"In the line of duty?"

[calamitousness]

Rikku saw Rukia wipe her hand, and her smile faltered for a split second. Maybe this girl was one of the people who didn't like Al Bhed. But she didn't look like she was from Spira... Maybe it was just a coincidence... Nodding, she tapped her fingers on her leg. "Uh, yea. See, this microwave kinda exploded..."

Rukia's attention was drawn to Rikku and she blinked. "What is a micr..o... way..ve?" She tried to pronounce the word but it came out broken.

[calamitousness]

The blonde girl stared at her for a moment, trying to work out what she'd said. "Oh!" She'd finally figured it out. "A microwave is a box that you heat stuff up in. Edgar put a fork in there, and it blew up."

[bunnyfixation]

She blinked. "Why did it blow up? If it is meant to heat things up shouldn't it heat the fork up?"

[calamitousness]

"It did heat the fork up," she replied. "But see, when you heat up metal in a microwave, the molecules get all funny because of the radiation." She was using her hands for emphasis, drawing little circles and arcs in the air that didn't seem to have any meaning at all except to Rikku herself.

[bunnyfixation]

Just blinking now. "What are... mole...cues?"

[calamitousness]

Pause. "Molecules are little bunches of atoms. Atoms are what make up everything in the world." So what if she'd gotten a C in Economis back in high school? She'd pacified her dad with an A in both Math and Science.

Everything? Rukia thought about that. It was interesting. Could it possibly make shinigami, too?

[calamitousness]

Waving her fingerless-gloved hand in front of Rukia's zoned-out face she said, "Oi, are you still with me here?"

Rukia blinked and nodded. "Yes, Rikku-san. Thank you for that interesting... description."

Edgar leaned back to Rukia and smiled. "Don't worry, M'Lady, I'm not quite sure on all of it yet, myself. Although it is rather neat, you have to admit."
