Another hockey season ends.
Looks like I'll be able to make it through 2008 without watching any hockey! Over the past 5 days, the Hurricanes blew their chance to make the playoffs, thereby ending the 2008 hockey season before it even had a chance to begin. (For me, the hockey season only starts once the Hurricanes have made the semifinals of the playoffs.) -
The end of suburbia?
I just finished reading an interesting article from Atlantic.com that proposes that the next major demographic shift in the United States will be from suburbia back to urban centers (provocatively titled "The Next Slum?"). It's a very interesting read, and it is also a bit worrisome for me since we are currently living in suburbia ourselves. ( Read more... ) -
Leesville Rd petition
I just signed an online petition for the widening of Leesville Road all the way from I-540 to New Leesville Blvd. I doubt it will make a difference, but it is something that is desperately needed. -
Great finish by the Wolfpack!
Trailing the entire game against Wake Forest, the Pack was able to take the lead in the final minutes and got a put-back from McCauley with 0.2 seconds to go to get a 2 point win. Point guard play is still dismal, but it's great to see McCauley, Costner, Grant and Hickson all playing well together. -
Umstead parking petition
Recently, parking near Umstead Park has been removed from two of its entrances. One of these entrances is at Graylyn Road off of Ebenezer Church Road. Please consider signing this petition to preserve the current entrances and bring back the ones recently taken away. -

I think I'm going to have to stop reading the State Fans Nation blog for a while. There are too many references to Sidney Lowe being on the hot seat and talk of fans being tired of him losing, even comparing him to Amato and Sendek. Up and down weekend for Wolfpack
First, the down on Saturday -- a 31 point loss to UNC-CH. Luckily, I had better things to do than watch what sounds to have been a very embarrassing game. Movie Roundup
Last night, Niamh and I rented and watched The Ex, also apparently known as Fast Track. I had seen it a few times before on the rack at Blockbuster and decided to give it a shot. After all, it has Zach Braff and Amanda Peet in it. But, it was not a good movie. It had a few funny moments, but overall it was a dud.

Geography Quiz
