Green Lantern is an ok superhero movie. It probably helps if you don't actually know much about Hal Jordan's origin story. The movie is a bit chaotic, not quite sure how seriously to take itself. But since the process has become partisan, does that mean every couple of years we'll have to watch Congress see how long they can balance on two wheels over a cliff before swerving off to land on all four - or not?

Megamind is better than it has any right to be.

A mind bending movie about the bending of minds.

Christopher Nolan, I love you.

Not a bad movie, a bit cliché, although the main players all did well in their roles. The eponymous creature was well realised until the final step, which was the only time I got a fake vibe from it.
It was less horrific that it could have been. It had less pathos than it might have. I felt it was going for more of the latter than the former. ( Read more... )

Should I turn in my Man-Card because I think Toy Story 3 was far better in every way than the latest iteration of Predator? What about if I got a little teary at some of the more maudlin scenes in TS3?

Saw Predators today. Not much in the way of new ideas. The reason the original was so enjoyable was we had no fucking idea what was hiding in the trees, what its abilities were or why it was killing. Take that away, and you end up with a fairly ho-hum thriller about humans being hunted which we've seen a thousand times in everything from war movies ( Read more... )
