I'm through defending, or even being indifferent, to AOL. Last night, I discovered that they are now putting banner ads on each email window. Yes, they've been on a couple of the major windows and, of course, every one of their custom content windows, but they've avoided putting them on the individual email windows ( Read more... )

*hug* It's OK, it's OK. It's not that you are disloyal, it's that they broke your trust. Let the relationship go and move on.

What sort of service is AOL providing to you? Someone might know some alternatives for you to look into. . .

Mainly it's convenient and relatively universal dial-up access. That's all that was available (for a reasonable cost) when I started and it was very Mac friendly, at the time.

why areyou usignthem anyway? you know they suck. you know that gmail is better. even ifyou are usignthem to dial up (why? get earthlink or osmething) you can jsut use them as slip acess andhten use areal browser...

They had sucked less (including out of my wallet) than other alternatives. Now, they are no better.

Earthlink, back in the day when I was choosing between services, was teh former suck.

Most of the time, I'm dialed in and then I bring up Firefox and do most of my work their. I have been moving mailing lists to GMail and Yahoo! but I always had a lot of email going to my several AOL accounts since they were "permanent".

For me, it's that this has been my email addy for over a decade, and it still gives me the best dial-up options. Feh.
