Title: Not one word.
Fandom: Stargate SG-1
Rating: (G)
Time Period: During season 1.
Summary: He had to do what!?

Author's Note: This is quick ‘n’ dirty (for definition see the F. A. Q.).

Randomly daydreaming, this scene came to mind and I had a good laugh over it so I had to write it down!

Jack tilts his cap back and stares at Carter. “I’ve gotta do what?”

“Bow, Colonel.” She hefts her gun; she might need it. “It’s their custom.”

Jack glances to Daniel who nods.

“What about Teal’c?”

“He doesn’t have to, Colonel,” Carter replies evenly.

“And why not?”

“He’s Jaffa, Colonel.”

“Lemme get this straight, Carter. I have to bow, because it’s their custom, but Teal’c doesn’t.”

“You got it, Colonel.”

“Is this because he has a snake? I could pretend to have a snake.”

Carter arches an eyebrow. Jack mutters. Teal’c looks at the nervous crowd gathered by the ‘gate. “O’Neill.”

Jack looks to him.

“If it means you will bow, I will do so also.”

Jack studies him. Closely. No expression flickers over the taller man’s face. Jack finally sighs and readjusts his cap. “I’ll bow,” he grumpily acquiesces. “But I draw the line at fancy bows, Carter.”

He steps away from the ‘gate, expression determined. She follows but not before she indulges in a quick grin Jack can’t see.

“And not,” Jack mutters to the group assembled behind him, “one word to Hammond. Got it?”

Carter suppresses a laugh. “Yessir.”
