Happy birthday, Neville!

Dear Gran:

Thank you for sending the parcel with my pyjamas. I’m sorry I forgot to pack them.  I guess I was thinking about how nice it would be to see the greenhouses again and wondering if Professor Sprout had got the Bubotubers she was talking about.  She has, and we’re already squeezing them out.  Did I tell you that Trevor really likes the ( Read more... )

No, you may not bring Trevor. Toads do not belong at a ball and he would only be unhappy.

Trevor was completely miffed - he's a super suave dancer and helped Neville with his more impressive moves - especially dipping...

:D

This was so sweet. If I ever had a kid, I hope he'd turn out just like Neville. I'd be so proud.

Now I'm picturing Trevor as something like Michigan J. Frog. I agree about Neville. He's a total sweetie and his Gran really does love him.

*applause* I can't think of a more wonderful tribute to Mr. Longbottom on his birthday! This was charming, clever, sweet, and absolutely delightful! Neville breaks my heart a little, so it made me very happy to see him come into his own as a leader (offstage *grumble*) in Deathly Hallows. This is a brief glimpse of that confident Neville to come. Brava!

Well, he did get that total badass moment whacking Nagini's head off, although what choked me up most in Deathly Hallows was his bravery at Hogwarts. I kind of picture him as something like the French Resistance in *Casablanca.* And it's really cool to look back and realize, "oh, hey, JKR had that planned all the way back in Book One."

Awww wow this was simply gorgeous! :D You have Neville's character down to a tee. So sweet, so shy, but a gentleman, and quiet confidence once he starts to dance :) I like the idea that he would write to his Gran, and she would reply. This was a unique way of retelling Neville's Yule Ball experience and I thoroughly enjoyed it :)

Wow! This is great! I love the voice of "Gran," as well. You can really see how much she helps him in this, and how much he relies on her, as well.

I think it's great that you give Neville a real talent outside of herbology and defense. He may not be athletic like Harry and Ron, but I do consider him to become agile as he gets older.

I'm also a sucker for these kinds of fics - the letters back and forth. Very nice.
