Book Review - And the Band Played On by Randy Shilts
This book is intense. First off the writing is absolutely superb. Shilts is able to go from the bureaucratic mess down to the personal story with ease and without sensationalism. Book review - My life in France by Julie Child
First off, throw out what you know about her, especially from the recent movie. Yes she did go to France and learn how to cook french food, but there is so much more to her story. Book - Understanding Comics
Just finished "Understanding Comics" by Scott McCloud. It was on the must read list by the Whitman College Art Department. I found the book fun to read (it is done in comic book format) and very informative. McCloud does a really good break down of how humans deal with visual language. I just finished reading Goat Song: A Seasonal Life, a Short History of Herding, and the Art of Making Cheese by Brad Kessler. This was a very enjoyable book. Brad Kessler is a published author who along with his wife decide to raise goats and make cheese.
