[ Five // Video // Action in Alexandria ]

[Now that the initial tide of monsters has been dealt with, Quistis has chosen to investigate the damage done to Alexandria, it being one of the nearest cities to where Garden's residents had taken up arms during the Lunar Cry itself. The city itself is livable, but she notes the obvious damage done to the houses along the cobblestone street she is ( Read more... )

[After Alexander's summoning, Hope decided to stick around and help in Alexandria. Alexander was his Eidolon, and if in this world he was appointed to protect this city, it felt only right Hope should do his part to help too. The Eidolon had come to him on Gran Pulse when he needed him most -- now he'd do the reverse and help him.

Only, there's not a lot he can do. He wanted to help the guards fight off the monsters that breached the city limits, but it resulted in a very near scrape when his magic didn't work and he had to be rescued. No matter how much he tries, his Ravager magic has completely left him, like he's lost all ability to use it on Gaia.

He's sitting on a pile of rubble outside a ruined house, frowning at his frozen brand, when he looks up in time to see a passerby. Out of an automatic reaction, he hurriedly slips his glove back on his hand to cover the marking, then realises the woman is a familiar face.]

Hey, you're...

[The voice draws Quistis' attention enough that she slows to a stop, looking over her shoulder for the source. Spotting Hope, it takes her a moment to place where she's seen his face before, but she smiles upon recognizing him.] Oh! Hello. You made it out of the mire. I'm sure doing so just in time to witness the Lunar Cry was a rude welcome to this world. Are you alright?

No kidding... I've never seen monsters go out of control like that before.

[He stands, brushing rubble dust from his pants. He's a liiiittle bit self-conscious, but at least he's not as shy around strangers as he would have once been.]

I'm okay. I met up with some friends and we came to Alexandria, and since then I've been doing what I can to help out. [An understatement, considering he helped the Queen summon Alexander.] Um -- I just wanted to thank you for helping me out back then. I don't know if I would've made it out of there without so many people looking out for me.

[Quistis looks somewhat startled by his gratitude; she doesn't recall doing much of anything aside from fussing. Her smile broadens regardless. Hope has already struck her as a sweet boy with nice manners.] I'm glad you found my concern helpful, and that you got out safely. Also that you met up with your friends so quickly. I would have been at a complete loss if I hadn't been able to meet up with mine when I first arrived. We're both luckier than some, in that respect.

[The amazing things about children is that they're resilient. Even with the damage and monsters all around, the kids in Alexandria seem to be unaware of it. Eiko's among them, playing tag with a group, squealing and laughing as she races past Quistis, although she takes the time to wave to her first.]

I don't want to get caught!

[Quistis smiles to herself, folding her gloved arms across her abdomen as she takes a step back to remove herself from the children's path, watching them with interest. She, too, waves as Eiko passes, privately admiring the whole lot of them for going about "business as usual" despite the circumstances. Resilient was certainly the right word to use. In times like this, children and their high spirits were something of an inspiration.]

Look out, then, he's right behind you!

Thanks!

[Eiko dodges and weaves, pretty quick on her feet, and in a clever fashion, using the other children as shields between herself and "It."]

[She laughs as she continues to spectate. It takes a few moments, but she finally recognizes Eiko as the little girl who appeared on the network wearing a SeeD cadet's uniform a couple of months back. With renewed interest, she raises an eyebrow and continues to look on. This girl was the one who had said she was born with the ability to summon, wasn't she?]

A quantity of the population surrounding Mysidia has been evacuated. [she doesn't mention how or where, though. that's not her place to say.] ... It could have been much worse here, but Mysidia has survived.

I'm glad. The entire continent has suffered, but calling for evacuation saved many lives.

Many had to endure the monsters as they came. [Frimelda lets out a short sigh. It's... starting to sink in, now. They did as much as they could: now they just have to try to fix things.] The small settlements between.. I would not know how they far.

I'm afraid to think of what must have happened to the smaller towns... but they need our aid as much as the cities do.
