Why I felt the need to write the open letters below: Authors Say Agents Try to “Straighten” Gay Characters in YA

as lomng as we are not talking about the mandated school reading lists that had what was essdentially bad porn, i am right there with you...

I'm not talking about mandated school reading lists (poorly chosen or otherwise); I'm not into forcing anyone to read anything. I'm also not pushing for any sort of porn; the focus of these articles and lists is Young Adult readers. What I do want is for age-appropriate* stories about minority protagonists to be widely available, which, as long as publishers choose not to accept such manuscripts for publication, they won't.

*E.g. holding hands, hugging, and kissing, regardless of whether the Significant Other in question is the opposite or same sex
