It feels like it's been a really long time since I've written about Buffy here, which is mostly due to the fact that I have nothing left to say. I STILL have nothing new to say, but sometimes the way I miss posting about it feels like a kind of homesickness, and I have to do something to make mysel feel better. So, here's that 30 Days of Buffy meme ( Read more... )

Nice answers! I'm not sure I agree with your thoughts on Normal Again, but you've definitely given me something to think about... *strokes invisible beard*

Heh, to be honest I assume that almost no one agrees with my thoughts on NA!

No great episodes arise from B/R, no moments of lasting resonance, and at the end of the day my dislike for Riley overwhelms even my extreme apathy for Angel.

That's a really good point and I hadn't considered B/R in those terms before. As much as B/A can make me gag ;), their relationship was at the heart of many great episodes. But B/R? Yeah, I can't come up with one episode of theirs that resonated after they became a couple. I will say, in 'Something Blue', Riley's reaction to learning of Buffy's plans to marry Spike was hilarious, but that was prior to dating. Other than that, he was pretty forgettable or I wanted to forget him ('Into the Woods').

B/R is featured in some great episodes, like Hush and Restless, and they have a few good scenes, mostly before they start dating, like in SB (I like most of their scenes in The Initiative too). But when it comes to episodes that are actually about their relationship? There's not much that's good. "Goodbye, Iowa" is not exactly sitting up there with "Passion" in terms of storytelling power.;) I don't like B/A, but for the first three seasons (or at least the first two, maybe two and a half), it earned it's place on the show.

Including the musical? Probably "Life's a Song". It's not the prettiest or most satisfying song from OMWF, but it's the one whose lyrics gut me the most.

That's always been my favourite too! It never seems to get mentioned much as a favourite, but the way SMG acts it out just kills me. Especially the part with "Well that depends on if they let you go" cause yeah ouch

Yes! And "Life's a song, you don't get to rehearse, and every single verse can make it that much worse". Poor Buffy! I don't think there's another scene that so explicitly lays out just how depressed she really is.

if we can't look forward to more Buffy posts from you, what can we look forward to? a sad, sad world...

I agree with so so much it's not even interesting... except for Riley-hate, but I am too kind to hate him, I only hate his condescension toward Buffy :)

Always enjoyable reading your Buffy thoughts. I should do this meme myself.

I'm glad you enjoyed it! And yes, you should do it yourself. It's an easy way to write about something we love.
