Hot Topic has a new line of Buffy merchandise, including Spike and Angel T-shirts. The Spike shirt features Buffy and the Angel shirt does not, so even though there's nothing at all shippy about it, I'm still going to think of this shirt as being one of the all-too-rare pieces of Spuffy-friendly licensed merchandising. My delusions make me happy. ( Read more... )

I miss being able to read as much. I finally suffered though the The Windup girl (good book, but hardly a beach read). Then I picked The Insatiable, and realized that I cannot bear to read about vampires anymore (unless they are you know who and I trust the author). ::sigh::

I go through periods where I just can't seem to read anything, sort of like reader's block instead of writer's block, and a lot of times that happens right after I drag myself through a book I didn't really enjoy, which it sounds like is what happened with you and The Wind-Up Girl.

No, I think it is more of the time constrains. it is hard to get in many books when I can only read for 10-15 minutes at the time. And there are too many books I want to read.

Mind, I am still reading about 10 books a day. Aloud. Over and over. :)

Anyways, I am still thinking a lot about my reading experience with Windup girl. Weird book.

Heh, yes I see how that could make a difference.:)

(I am using my one children's picture book icon in accordance with your current reading habits.)

Another odd thing about the Hot Topic line of clothing? That Spuffy-esque shirt? The Buffy on it is from season 1, which has absolutely nothing to do with Spike.

Then again, these are the guys who marketed the Twilight mall tour, so we really shouldn't expect much of them.

Hee, I am not sure the people who created the shirts are very well-versed in the Buffyverse. I am just sort of pleased to still see Buffy and Spike popping up on merchandise.

Janet Evanovich is leaving her current publisher because they refuse to pay her $50 million for her next four books. The Stephanie Plum books are still extremely popular and they sell very well, plus with a movie coming in the next year or so there's likely to be renewed interest

That is insane. That is a Stephen King-level paycheck, back in the golden days of publishing. And a movie based on an early work is just going to boost back-catalog sales. If there's a noticeable drop-off in quality, those back-catalog sales will taper off.

Then again maybe she'll be snapped up by GiantPublishingCorp. What the hell do I know?

I don't know. The speculation on some of the sites I was reading yesterday suggested that she had screwed herself over by making her asking price public. Will GiantPublishingCorp want to take her on and risk having any top authors they currently house ask for this kind of money in their next round of negotiations?

It is probably worth noting that after her last contract negotiation she fired her agent and now her son is acting as her agent. That's probably never a good idea.

Bahaha. Right on. Though, it is strange that they used a season 1 Buffy shot on that shirt. Probably to dissuade us ~crazy shippers or something. Very confusing, yet amusing.

I just read Sizzling Sixteen and you are right, is was better than Fifteen but that's still not saying much. And $50 million is ridiculous, no author deserves that much.

The book that I enjoyed the most lately was The Poacher's Son . Great setting (rural Maine) and interesting discussion of the effects of a terrible childhood on an adult.

I find it frustrating that she's apparently decided to stay in a complete holding pattern with the characters. No one changes, no one grows, the relationships never progress. I still get a few laughs out of each book, but that's about all.
