Meaningless lists are meaningless...but fun!

I knew that Buffy was one of the characters featured on the cover of Entertainment Weekly's new issue, which lists the magazine's choices for the 100 Greatest Characters of the Last 20 Years, but I did not realize until I opened the magazine that she is #3 on their list, right after Homer Simpson and Harry Potter. I think that's pretty great! Homer ( Read more... )

Oooh, I hope a scan turns up online somewhere.

I love what Joss has to say about the character and giving proper due to Smidge who brought Buffy to life, truly elevated her to iconic status.

"That's Sarah" is so lovely. ♥

I know, it's so nice to see such a sweet appreciation of both the character and the actress from Joss.

Squeee...I was so suprised, but utterly thrilled to see her at #3 when I read my issue yesterday too! And it made my heart flutter a bit with the nice things JW had to say about SMG because she does deserve recognition for what she brought to the role.

EW's love for "Buffy" gives them a special place in my heart. It just kind of rocks that such a national magazine constantly appreciates the specialness of the show and lets people know it.

Sometimes I think I'm still fond of EW, which has gone downhill in recent years, mostly because they've always been such cheerleaders for Buffy, and also for the X-Files back in the day. They won my loyalty by championing all my favorites!

Yay! I'm so excited to see both Buffy and SMG get the recognition they deserve. That description is just exactly right, and makes me grateful all over again for all the wonderful memories the character and the show leave me with.

I just love seeing Buffy and SMG get such a sweet appreciation from a mainstream magazine so many years after the show went off the air. It's like proof that the show did make a lasting impression in pop culture.

That's a big part of why I can't even consider the comic book Buffy to be the really real Buffy. She lacks so much of the emotional depth that SMG brought to the role.

I've always held the belief that Joss created Buffy, but it was SMG who made the character an icon. It's good to see her getting some praise.

P.S. The comic books are not mentioned once in this appreciation of the character.

I think deep down Joss knows they're crap.

Joss and SMG really were the perfect pairing of writing and acting. I hold out this faint hope that they might work together again someday on a non-Buffy project, just because they bring out the best in each other's work.
