More Parental Theorizing

Aug 02, 2006 01:46

My response to one of the comments made to my recent parenting rant got too long for the comment window.

What did I ramble on about for so long? Umm. The development of personality, the role that school plays in altering that personality and the specific personalities of my kids. So this entry is about personality then :D

Have you heard of the Indigo Child theory? An LJ friend of mine told me about it ahwile ago. Google it and it will tell what it is and how you can nurture that. My son fit a lot of the characteristics, but some of it sounded like an excuse for parents to let their kids act like spoiled brats ( ... )

I'm actually trying to get him into the Champlin system which is part of the anoka-henepin district. I live in the Osseo district and I'm sorry to say, really sucks as a school system, in my limited experience.

I think you're right, Wren. I'm not looking forward to seeing those changes in Emily, but I've seen them in so many other children I've nannied for. So far Emily thrives in school far better than I ever did. I wilted under the pressure, and became, rather than the bully, the bullied. I didn't know how to conform, so I got beaten down. Like I said, Emily thrives, but I don't know about Ian. He's got more of my personality. I don't know what I'll do if Ian doesn't fit in, but I won't make him suffer through it the way I did ( ... )

I'm with you on the homeschooling. It's too bad that several of us don't live closer together -- maybe it could be done if there were 3 or 4 families so that no one person was totally responsible for all that ... accountability ( ... )
