Happy Monday! :D Getting this in under the wire.
clunkhall dared me to write shameless fluff and...well...this is the result. ;p This is really difficult for me, believe it or not -- everything has to have meaning and symbolism, so to just write happy engagement fluff was haaaaard!!! So, it's happy but it's emotional so...well, I'm not really sure I

Aaaaaaaaahhhh the kissing was SO CUTE. I LOVE them kissing like that, and the touching, and all of it so light and gentle and tender and AWWWW....
And you know, that's SO ADORABLE and so TRUE about Mary... I can't see her just, slipping into THAT so quickly or easily as Matthew... and you know, when I started dating my husband it took me a LONG time to say it!! I could say it in texts and things for SO long before I ever actually *said* it so I can see that completely. Awwwww but the idea that she HAS said it, so many times, only never when he could hear... Darling, darling!! ACH AND HIS KISS AT THE END. So cute...
You can ABSOLUTELY write perfect shameless fluff and now I have all the warm fuzzies and I love it! :D :D :D

I do think when it means something, it's SO difficult to say. But I definitely could imagine Mary thinking it (how could she not? :( ) but saying it would make it real so...hee, I'm just glad it worked. :D
Hee, I realize I sound slightly insane ("I can't write fluff, wahhhh!"), but I just so appreciate your comments and I'm just SO happy you liked it!!! :)

I loved it, I even cried a little bit because I'm a sad case of emotional mess, and you just know which cords to struck.
I loved the little kisses, always too brief, stolen but tender. It's so different from what we'd usually expect, but endearing and full of love...and sensual, because it creates a loveable friction. I liked to imagine Matthew being unable to close his eyes between kisses, because as much as Mary kept them close not to break the spell, Matthew's magic came from the fact that the dream was real (reference to 1x07, so powerful, aaaa ( ... )

I'm glad you thought it was different than usual -- IDK, the more I thought about it...I could see them being almost shy with each other. So, I'm really glad you thought it worked (and hee, I couldn't resist the 1x07 reference! Ahh, that episode... ;)
she couldn't afford to lose the protection of that silence.
I love how you said this because I think it's so true, and just...really well-said. :) That it was OK to love him in silence because it wasn't real and he didn't know, and that it's one of the things that make it difficult for her to say it now. :)
And when she can tell him...well, it has struck me how they're engaged but we've never heard them say "I love you"
YEP. And truthfully, I wonder if we ever will...I mean, I'd hope we will, but I know it was a time when people didn't really express their feelings (and women certainly didn't talk about them out loud! :) I have a difficult time thinking about Mary being able to say it in canon, so I do wonder ( ... )

Sigh, well I'm honored -- Mary's secret love for Matthew was one of the most wonderful parts of S2. :D Really, thank you so much -- I so appreciate your kind words!!! :)

Aww, I actually wouldn't be surprised if we never hear those words from M/M (if they didn't say it upon getting engaged, then when?!) but it'll be a wonderful surprise if we do. :) I've always imagined it as a very low-key, almost unexpected moment -- similar to their first kiss, so I'm just so thrilled it worked for you. :)
Thank you again -- I so appreciate your kind words!!! :D
