+ I have a new layout to celebrate the new year!  I'm quite fond of it, except I can't make the icons on comments pages do the correct thing.

+ I watched "The End of Time" and reacted accordingly.  But here's something I didn't really expect: I am dying to see Eleven in action.  I think I may love him best of all.  I can't even share this ( Read more... )

Your new layout is gorgeous!

Re: 11th Doctor: I have been eagerly awaiting his arrival ever since those promo shots of him in skinny jeans came out (that everyone seemed to hate).

To be totally honest, I was getting kind of bored with Who, which is why I think I got behind in watching it. 11 however, has rekindled my Doctor Who obsession, and I've seen less than 5 minutes of him in action! So I am SUPER excited for new Who.

Thank you! It reminds me a little bit of your layout, which has always been one of my faves.

Skinny jeans! I can't wait. I think he looks like the giantest nerd, which I really love as a concept. Tennant had his moments of nerdiness, but I really want someone kind of awkward and gangly because I find it adorable.

I think RTD did a very good job of reinvigorating Who and making it viable in the 21st century, but I also think he has a lot of very obvious tropes and themes he can't stop writing about. Which is boring, in the long run. I'm glad he's handing it over to someone else, so we can see this world from another perspective - and that the someone else is one of my hands-down all-time favorite writers in any genre or medium only makes it all the better.

A lot of people are judging what they think will happen before they see much of anything. And I'm not reserving judgment, but I guess I just feel opposite of most people: I trust Moffat to give me the best show I've ever seen.

I feel exactly the same way!

Yes, this. This was especially true with Rose Tyler (at least, for me). I really loved Rose, but then she turned into this thing that just felt seriously overplayed. It felt like it was less about her and more about fulfilling some fanservice requirement to please all the fans that felt robbed of their Rose/10 time after S2.

I am not sure how I feel about the 11th but I will still watch. I wasn't terribly good about keeping up with the any of the others - but David Tennant actually peaked my interest enough to watch more regularly.

Good luck with the application!

Tennant was definitely interest-peaking. I'm sad to see him go, but excited for the future.

Thank you! I just sent it off. Now only 2 more to go!

Pretty layout!

That preview clip makes me want to watch Doctor Who. A few years ago GPTV showed series 1 on Sunday nights - I got into it but they didn't keep it up after the season ended. And I just haven't had the time & patience to d/l eps to catch up. :(

AHHH GRAD SCHOOL! That's exciting & I'm happy for you.

Thanks!

Who is definitely worth watching, but it can be frustrating to try and keep up when it doesn't just come on regular tv. Still, I recommend pretty much all the seasons - they're all fun and action-y and heartbreaking and awesome. You could probably even start watching this one without catching up, and not be missing much of anything.

AHHH I'm so scared/excited.

Oh wow, I had no idea you'd stopped watching. I really think Moffat has the power to steer the show in new and awesome directions, so I'm very excited to see what happens!
