Last chapter, oh noes!

Jim paused for a moment to savor his next line. "You may remember I have always insisted that there was no evidence whatsoever connecting Batman to those crimes. It was dark and events unfolded very quickly. I wouldn't feel comfortable saying exactly what happened."

*flails*

"Clark Kent, Metropolis Daily Planet. I was wondering, sir...are your children all right?"

Awww, Clark! *glomps him*

Babs, however, had thrown something of a temper tantrum at the very thought.

*snickers* *hearts little!Babs*

However, she had other beacons now.

*flails again*

He cut off that train of thought before it could run inevitably to internal bleeding, head injuries, collapsed lungs.

Meeep! Poor Lucius...

"With all due respect, sir, I think a lot of people in Gotham would disagree with you this morning. And I must tell you that I am one of them."

In the silence that followed, Lucius heard Bruce Wayne swallow twice.

*wibbles a bit*

"You have no idea. There was this girl--Lucius, she was crazy, craaaazy. And she was ( ... )

Last chapter, oh noes!

I know, what will I do?? *looks at birthday fics, canon-based ficlets, and Gardens* Ummm...never mind! But I really will miss this story, too.

*snickers* *hearts little!Babs*

No way someone is taking her away from her hero!

I loved Bruce's whole conversation with Lucius, and how he was telling the truth, only twisting it a bit... *glomps him*

It was so fun to write! I love those sideways kinds of conversations...

Awww, Bruce! I'm so, so pleased to see him so happy!

Me too, eee! Some of it's Clark, but I think a LOT of it is the events of that night and knowing Gotham has his back...

LOL, Bruce! Of course he doesn't sulk, no... :p

Bruce Wayne, sulking? NEVER. :D

Oh, after everything he's been through, how very painful it was to read the first few chapters, I'm so so SO glad that he's happy and with Clark now. This story really put him through the wringer, so it was soooo satisfying to give them both a happy ending! I'm really glad you liked it, thank you so much for all your wonderful comments ( ... )

Part I:

"The car that Doctor Harleen Quinzel drove off the New Trigate Bridge was empty when we recovered it," said Jim Gordon,
Oh yes, I have to say, I'm not surprised. :)

"You may remember I have always insisted that there was no evidence whatsoever connecting Batman to those crimes. It was dark and events unfolded very quickly. I wouldn't feel comfortable saying exactly what happened."
I wondered what was Jim going to say about that. And he did it well!

A reporter raised his hand almost shyly, as if afraid to bother him, and Jim found that too charming to pass up. He nodded to him and the man said "Clark Kent, Metropolis Daily Planet. I was wondering, sir...are your children all right?"
AWWWW, Clark. That was nice how Jim saw his behavior charming. And I loved Clark's question. :D

Babs, however, had thrown something of a temper tantrum at the very thought.
Oh yes, that’s Babs. :D I admit, I would expect such reaction from her.

His wife's silhouette moved against the curtains, and he could hear his son laughing.
Nice image.

I'm not even that sorry! Characters like Harley usually manage to not leave a body, lol...

Jim's little interactions with Superman and Clark were so much fun to write in this arc! They play off each other very well...

Well, considering what happened, I don’t blame him for these thoughts.

Poor Lucius! Alfred probably should have sent him at least a hint that Bruce was okay, but the conversation was so fun to write that I couldn't resist it...

Oh it seems Alfred was smart keeping Bruce’s arms bandaged. Bruce needs to rest.

He might need to tie Bruce down completely to make him rest, lol!

Yay for studying Kryptonian! It's sneaked into a bunch of my stories recently, somehow...

Part II:

He looked sternly at Clark. "Do not let him get out of bed or use his arms, no matter how much he sulks."
"I don't sulk," stated Bruce. "I express moderated disapproval."
He sulks, Alfred mouthed at Clark, and exited with a wink.
Awesome dialogue! :D

"You've been bedridden for..." Clark looked at his watch. "Almost twelve hours."
"Thirteen and a half," Bruce sighed.
:D :D

"And I believe Quinzel was right about one thing: we are defined by the choices we make." He was silent a long time, looking at Clark. "The choices we make," he repeated, softly.
Well said.

"Your nose?"
"It itches." Bruce wriggled, scrunching his face up. "Could you--could you scratch it? It's torture, I tell you." Clark reached down and ran his finger up and down Bruce's nose, and Bruce sighed luxuriously. "Thank you."
That was cute. :)

"Unbearable," said Clark ( ... )

They two are just adorable. :D

It was so fun to write them finally being on the same page at last and able to joke and flirt freely!

WOW, was that the Bat signal? - Perfect! :)

It was! Gordon finally got approval to start using it again. :) I couldn't find a way to say it succinctly enough, but the shape of the bat falls across his eyes, I think. :)

damos has been the Best Beta Ever for this one! Now we'll see if he can whip Gardens into shape... (I'm about four chapters in so far!) Thank you so much for all your wonderful comments and support, they mean so much to me!

Eeee, thank you! This was sooooo satisfying to write after all the angst--everyone on the same page, the Manor and the Signal restored, Bruce and Clark free to flirt and be honest with each other. *happy sigh* I'm glad you enjoyed it!

*happy sigh*

This was lovely in absolutely every way. Seriously, it was like a fluffy warm pillow to stretch out on after the harrowing-ness of last chapter.

The conversation with Lucius was just genius, and Alfred and Jim and... oh, everyone.

Amazing fic, I'm glad I got to read the end, but I'm also kinda sad it's over. Which is what it's always like at the ends of the good ones. Bravo!

I really felt that way, writing it. :) Just...everyone being able to relax and enjoy themselves and be straightforward (well, as straightforward as Bruce is capable of being).

Yeah, me too! It was a lot of fun to write and I feel kind of at loose ends, even though I have a lot of other projects I'm eager to get to... Thank you so much for the kind comments!
