Russia, Cuba, and South Africa all think it's supercool that Obama won the Nobel Prize. Some people feel differently.

While Russia's president congratulated President Barack Obama for winning the Nobel Peace Prize, Republicans see the award as so outrageous that they're using it to raise campaign money ( Read more... )

There has been pretty immediate change though. Nothing on the physical level, but -- I never thought I'd see even a discussion of socialized healthcare in my lifetime. Really, I thought it'd never be talked about seriously. But there it is. That's a huge step.

I guess Immediate results is more what I was meaning. There are a lot of things I never thought I'd see in the last few years....]

Several people I work with are outraged that he hasn't delivered yet on several things (we don't have universal health care yet and we're still in the war so Obama is a liar) and I guess that is mainly where my frustration comes from

Yeah. Change doesn't happen overnight. (I wish it did, I really do.)

Still -- we're in a much better place now than we were a year ago.

I have no idea how they think they're making themselves look by all this. Petty, whiny, overall assholish?

I mean, yeah, I think it was premature, but fucking hell, throwing a whiny little hissy fit or making sarcastic comments just makes THEM look like peabrains.

Er, yeah. My reply was along the lines of "Yeahbuhwhat?"

Still, claiming that someone winning a Nobel prize is going to be OMG THE DOWNFALL OF THE COUNTRY TO SOCIALISM is remarkably stupid.

Someone needs to make an icon that says "Socialism? You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."

I WILL MAKE ONE.

After the hockey. Because Dave was all "I HAS A TICKET YOU WANT TO GO?" and I was all "I'M ALIVE AREN'T I?" so we're going but after that I will socialize your icon.

(I may also have made a pile of International Leftist Allies, [insert country here] Division icons)

I just love that all the "outraged" people probably can't name one other person who has won the damn thing. Do they all really care about peace that much? "He doesn't deserve it--there are much more deserving people who have tirelessly worked for peace in our world. And their names are....uh... shit."

They only care about advancing themselves and their own agendas. I mean, they're shitting on the Nobel Peace Prize to make themselves look good.

How selfish can ya get??
