i suppose that's a descending bucket for an opal mine, "if" only there's paydirt at the bottom of the hole.

this photo has a nice dynamism, the apex of structure moving the eye upward, while the descending bucket going the other direction brings it back down. i like this one. the nearly black and white composition with the one splash of bright yellow for a focal point is very well done as well.

Thanks! To be honest, I find the contrast between the black and the white a bit jarring (the photo looks oversharpened to me even though I hardly did any sharpening), but I couldn't find a way to solve that problem in Photoshop. Apparently the scan was a bit too contrasty...

Yes, that is indeed an opal-mining bucket. I wonder if the "if" ever resulted in a nice yield. I loved the gesture anyhow...
