I'm glad to hear you're all right! kerravonsen isn't up yet, but I'm sure she'll have some excellent advice about laptops. I don't, not having one. :-)

Thanks! I hope you guys are enjoying yourselves. Though I confess I am a bit envious.

We are indeed. Lots of fannish talking and eating and looking at pretty things and relaxing with books and cats...

Thank you. ::hugs back::

BTW, there's a message on your machine when you get home, but it isn't important. I just wasn't sure which week you were going to NZ.

I'm fine, it's just a pinched nerve making it difficult to sit at the computer and type, which is why I'm shopping for a laptop. Must feed the fandom addiction!

Ouch. Brother decided to make my XP machine into a Vista. The resulting headaches of the last couple of days look like small beer by comparison with an inability to be properly comfortable at the computer. Much sympathy.

Thanks. I understand that moving from another version of Windows to Vista is much more difficult than starting with Vista as your first-ever OS. But they're going to force us old-timers to adapt anyway. I'm not looking forward to it, myself. But then, I still miss DOS. :-(

I think I could have lived with it, but XP has now been restored. Hasn't stopped things being just plain wrong with my computer, though - I think someone who really knows about the beasts will have to look at it. Meanwhile, my parents' computer is available for when I need computer time.

DOS! I was thinking about an emulator for DOS before things went pear-shaped...
