Don't feel too bad.... I didn't call tech support, but I did spend *hours* one time trying to figure out what was wrong with our new cable modem back at the old apartment only to find that this modem had a "standby" mode whereas none of the ones previous did. I was not pleased to find that I had simply bumped that button with my foot and that all that time I had wasted checking every single configuration was for not. :-P
Heck, I just spent twenty minutes trying to figure out why our network here was down when I got home. I never did figure out why, but at least it's working...
