Dad didn't have a lot of luck being able to get up and do much this morning according to the chart. Also, Sis talked to him and evidently he's told her he's going to die in three days

This is just the day after surgery, isn't it? He could still be messed up with the anesthesia and whatever pain meds he is on. They can make you really depressed as well as dizzy and nauseated. The second day is usually much better. He does need to get up though.
He did make some progress later in the day and according to Sis, whom I called by accident but it was good I did since getting anyone at the hospital is a pain in the ass, today he sat up in bed and they're to the point of talking rehab places. Slow progress is progress.
Unfortunately dude is not doing great in the brain department as he thinks the guy from the assisted living is going to send someone to the hospital to kill him. Ugh. They do have their behavioral health folks on it and have already taken him off one med that he went on at the assisted living and are trying a different one
The guy who is going to kill him has really gotten stuck in his head. If the med changes don't gt him off that idea, maybe they can convince him the rehab place is witness protection and the guy can't find him there?
I hope he listens to you today. He sounds a bit like my dad was after his hip replacement. I think older men struggle most with the fear of being seen as weak or in pain, but ironically that leaves them in more pain because they avoid exactly what will help them. Good luck with the call today.
He's still pretty delusional but thankfully they're working on that too. I wish I could talk to him but something about the fact that he came from a psych hospital, he can't have the phone near him or something? Sis and BIL are going to try to get him his cell phone on Thursday since they don't think the hospital will care about that, especially if they let the hospital know that the only people he knows how to call are his kids.
He's made some progress, albeit small but progress is good.
I will be. If he's sticking around, I'm hoping we can get improvement in the brain and body. If not, at least he's not scared or in pain. I think the sister is starting to be less freaked out about option two but obviously still doesn't want that.

Thanks *hugs back* we're not expecting miracles but if he's going to be around a while, hopefully they can get him mobile again
