Masterlist Sayu sat across from Jonghyun at the table they shared. It was a small café; they both had coffee cooling in front of them. Sayu thought maybe he waited in order to come off as more human, since it would be strange to down scalding hot coffee and not be affected by it. She was used to this part by now, the staring contest at the beginning of these little meetings. One of you would break the silence and that would set the pace for the rest of the evening.
It was usually him.
“There’s one thing I keep noticing about our relationship,” he started off, grabbing for his cup but not picking it up. Sayu raised her eyebrows as if to ask something. He was playing with a little piece of plastic sticking off the side of the lid on his cup. He continued, “There’s an extreme lack of sex per info ratio.”
Sayu chuckled. “I think in our type of give and take, including sexual benefits might complicate certain matters beyond repair,” Sayu stated, taking into account his dead stare at her for laughing. “That one time was it, a onetime thing.”
He rolled his eyes and finally picked up his cup, sipping regardless of the heat. “What if I said no more info-swap until you let me fuck you?” Jonghyun tilted his head in a mocking manner, a cheesy grin to boot.
Sayu shrugged and let him wonder what she was thinking for a minute, reaching for her cup and blowing on it. Slowly. Then sipping from it with a little slurping sound. This really seemed to grate on his nerves because he slammed his cup down on the table and stood up, flinging his chair to the side as he marched out of the shop by himself.
It was all a game, like who can piss the other off more. Sometimes he would dodge her questions the entire night, only answering the most superficial questions that were common knowledge. Sometimes she would get drunk and flirt with other men while he was still sitting with her. They weren’t in a relationship, that doesn’t happen between human and vampire, but they made each other enjoy their company enough to put up with this kind of bullshit.
Sayu finished her coffee after a few long minutes, before he came back in. She supposes when he storms off and comes back, he walked around the block, or four, before coming back. When he didn’t come back, she supposed he found someone to eat. It looked like he wasn’t hungry tonight. He sat down, much less defeated than someone would have been in his situation. Jonghyun looked at her squarely when he said, “What is the important question this time?”
Looks like tonight will be productive.
