Fan Vid: Life on the Moon-Kara Thrace

Aug 13, 2009 21:35

Hello flist!

Felt like vidding this week, so I did. It kind of became my little love letter to one of my favorite fictional characters ever. Extra focus on what a difficult young life she led and how awesome she was despite it all.

Some Notes:
  • This one is a little experimental, I'm trying to develop a better style, focus less on just matchy matching ( Read more... )

Aw, what a great overview of Kara's story. (Although I can't help wishing she had a happier ending, yet again, some more. Sniff.)

I loved the two transitions from Kara looking in the mirror at 2:21 to 2:22 then Kara standing/showering at 3:18 to 3:19. They were just seamless and evocative!

Thank you so much!

I know! I felt the same way vidding this, like I appreciate the bittersweetness of her, but sometimes I still want to demand her happiness :(

Yay! Those were hands down my favorite moments as well. I still think it was awesome luck that I noticed how similar the shots of her in the mirror in "Precipice" and "Torn" were. I love when things come together and do the work for me. The shower scene in that ep is just GAH I feel for her, had to use it here.

Thanks again, my friend!

It's amazing how many of the most awesome things in vids (mine anyway) are totally a product of random luck. Her posture is so bad in that shower scene that it makes everything even MORE painful I think.

That's so true, happy accidents make the best vidding moments, the things you weren't expecting and didn't have to force. Those are usually the moments you yourself want to watch in your own vids too (at least for me) because they still feel fresh and not worked over.

I never thought about it before, but you're right. She's all angles and bones. Sometimes this character still just guts me. :/

The song was perfect, the vid was perfect. LOVED IT. I love the way you wove in the vid clips with the lyrics, and your transtions were fabulous (LOVED the one Tara mentioned, with the transition from Kara leaving Adama's quarters to Kara in the shower -- it just makes you think immediately of the journey she has between those two moments).

Such a great representation of Kara's story.

Thank you!

Awesome stuff to hear since those were all the things I was trying to convey. I really do love that the both of you mentioned the shower scene since that was the part I was most fond of. Especially since that section of the vid was originally just viper shot filler, hah.

Thanks again :)

Thank you, hon! I'm so glad you approve!

I know, sometimes I miss her kind of in the way I would a friend. Crazy, but true. Love her.

I'll join in the chorus complimenting your transitions. And great choice of a song too.

I don't think I'll ever understand how the writers of BSG could create such a great character and then completely fail to do her justice.

Thank you so much. I feel great that the song worked for you, I debated a while before choosing this one, where as I normally hear the song and get inspired to vid, this was the opposite.

Honestly, the only thing I can come up with is that the BSG writers thought they DID do her justice. Otherwise, I don't see how they could do that to such a powerhouse and one that they themselves created at that. We'll never understand :/

I know what you are saying and obviously we and the writers have different ideas as to what justice means. Sigh.
