Couture on the Carpet

Alert the fashion police, please.

Why was Tilda Swinton dressed like a one-winged bat? Even the chunky diamond bracelet failed to detract from the ugliness of her gown.

Another monstrosity was the one worn by Rebecca Miller, wife of Daniel Day-Lewis. Black velvet bodice, red bows, and two humongous accents of black crystal. She looked like a ( Read more... )

Nicole Kidman always seems to be dressed so elegantly. I also like Katherine Hiegl's dress.

Yes! I have never once found flaws with Kidman's sense of style. She gets full marks from me for being so classy and elegant.

Miller's dress wasn't even flattering for her figure. Yes, I agree with you... Helen Mirran looked lovely int hat striking red gown.

Farrell is so scruffy he even makes a stray dog look clean and well-groomed. All the sex scandals and drug addictions he's involved in, also turn me off completely. He's just crass.

(I am so bitchy today :-))

I never watch the show, and I don't think I ever bothered to see photos, but I did it this time (anything that prevents me from working;P) and I am surprised how many people are badly dressed. One would think that if they have enough money to afford best stylists and best designers they would look much better. I'm not a very fashionable person myself, but come on...

I also liked Calista Flockhart's dress (though not on her, really - too skinny and no breasts) and Cate Blanchet's, though it might be only because I adore her;)

Anne Hathaway looks bad as usual.

Man, I'm cruel;)
But yay! for Juno getting the best original screenplay award!

Hee, it's fun to be cruel once in a while. I actually went back and edited my entry to rip apart (rather sarcastically) the awful ensembles of Julie Christie and Mary Hart.

Calista's dress was gorgeous, yes! I forgot to include it in my favourites. But I agree with you -- she's too bony and anorexic-looking to be able to do justice to it.

Anne Hathaway is painful. And while I wasn't wowed by Cate Blanchet's gown, I think she's just a brilliant actress with such a graceful aura about her.

Yes, yay Juno!

I'd agree with most of those, although I didn't think they were too hideous as compared to really wacky ones of the past. The worst one in my opinion was Diablo Cody's leopard print one from the Peg Bundy collection, with disco gold flats...

Oooh yeah, how did I forget that atrocity on fashion. *shudder* Then again, I wouldn't want to remember.
