X does not quite appear out of nowhere.

She just moves quietly.

"You are not okay?"

That she does. Normally Alanna would start, just a little, and ignore it. Tonight she drops a hand to her sword and tenses.

"Blodwen," Alanna grumbles, forcing herself to relax.

"She rotted the floor," X says.

"When Sameth attacked her."

Beat.

"I arrested him."

"What."

Alanna's gaze turns owlish.

"Are you sure we shouldn't give the lad a medal?"

Sameth just got out of the cells and he's glad, someone else came in there who's angry.

For now all he wants is some food and something warm to drink, he nods to Alanna as he thinks about what he wants to eat.

Alanna nods back, eyes stormy, as she starts to chew on her lower lip.

She says nothing, but keeps watching him. There might even be approval in her gaze.

The gaze is at first intimidating and then he smiles when he notices there's some approval,

"Good evening."

Alanna grunts.

"Evening." Beat. "Hungry?"

She kicks out the chair at the end of the booth.

The funny thing about getting a note sometimes is you can end up getting it from Bar when you're practically standing next to the person who sent it. Like now, for example.

Angel eyes the note, then looks up at Alanna.

"Another case, huh?"

"No."

There aren't any pleasantries, this time. She doesn't even look surprised to see him. That would take too much effort away from being furious about Blodwen.

"I think you should join Security."

Ok, that was a little more intense than he was expecting, but if Angel can do anything, it's intense.

The smile fades to a straight, no-nonsense look.

"Where do I sign?"

His response earns him a not entirely pleasant smile.

"Belar would need to approve it. He's Head now."

And she's still a stickler for the chain of command. Here.

That was loud.

Ryan approaches warily, taking note of her Security badge. "What about Blodwen?"

"She's back," Alanna spits out, only then looking up.

Whoops.

She manages to wipe the angry glare off her face, but she's in no mood for a smile. Not yet, anyway.

(Someone has temper issues.)

Ryan's giving her a flat look. It's nice to know Security's on top of the situation.

"As I understand it, she's been back for at least a month now." There's a slight brow raise at the end of that.

"Ah."

Alanna returns the flat look, then quirks an eyebrow.

"I've been at war."

While true, this doesn't excuse her from not checking the security office for updates when she came by for the baseball game. She knows this. She also knows she was barely standing upright at the time.

It's really amazing, really, how much someone can jump just when someone's name is mentioned.

Of course, when that person's name is Blodwen, maybe it's not all that strange.

Still, it almost looks like something bit the short pyro in the butt.

The sudden movement in her peripheral vision makes Alanna jerk her head sideways. Her eyes flick to Ace's face.

For a moment, she looks almost apologetic.

It passes.

"Ace."

The 'hi' is implied.

[nitro_is_ace]

"'Lanna." Ace replies, once she's adequately decided that Blodwen isn't actually here at the moment.

There's still an underlying growl under there. Blodwen doesn't even have to be physically present to get her blood up.

She's not alone in that. Alanna almost smiles, turning the expression into a grimace.

"That was loud, wasn't it."
