[Note: Tavi is reset and is eleven. If you want your pup who knew Tavi before to recognize him or his name, go ahead; he just won't know you. But he likes new friends.]

[ Sorry, Uncle Bernard...]

The door slams open and then shut again, as a boy dressed in Roman peasant's clothes collapses against it in a fit of laughter.  He has a wealth of dark ( Read more... )

"Aw, what's so funny?"

There's a blond teen leaning his chair over towards the door not very far off and pointing a bright smile at the boy. He is strongly in favor of healthy laughter.

(And he's also noticed that Tavi has that quietly confused look that new folks seem to get a lot, so saying hi can't be a bad thing.)

Tavi looks up at him and smiles back. "I put a bucket of water over a doorway, and it dumped on my Uncle Bernard."

He tilts his head a little, almost frowning, examining the clothing. "You're... not from Alera, are you?" His eyes are torn between scared confusion and a kind of wary eagerness.

"Oh. That sounds like something out of a cartoon!"

Momiji snickers a little, covering the mischievous grin that slides onto his face with one hand. He didn't realize kids actually did things like that.

At Tavi's question, though, he shrugs and offers what he hopes is a reassuring smile, as he brings his hands back down to his sides.

"No, I'm from a place called Japan. Uh, on a planet called Earth."

"Cartoon?" Tavi looks puzzled. Milliways will be quite an eye-opener for him.

But what he said catches Tavi's attention, and his eyes widen. Different planet? "Some of our oldest stories say we came to Carna--that's where Alera is--from another place. Records so old they're honestly lost by now. Do you have furycrafting, on Earth?"

His eyes are shining. "And... well. It's not hard to do, and I had Fade to help me. The hardest part was timing it because I didn't have time to set a trip wire."

Ellen's had one of those days that just doesn't ever seem to end, but at least she's managed to clean herself up a bit. Her armor's going to need repairs before she goes home, though, which is why she's settled in at a table working on it now. At the sound of the door, she glances up. "Oh," she says. "You look new here."

Tavi looks at her and blinks several times. He's never seen anyone quite like her. The armor is absolutely bizarre, although Tavi can recognize it as such. And a sword is still just a sword.

The pistol, though, is just baffling.

"Yes, ma'am," he says automatically. "I was just hiding in the barn." He points to the pistol. "May I ask what that is?"

"Oh- this is a laser pistol," says Ellen. "A type of gun, where I come from. They're not very common. I didn't even know they existed until a little while ago. Welcome to Milliways, by the way."

There are several new words for Tavi in that short sentence.

"What's a gun?" He asks blankly. "And why is... this Milliways place in my uncle's barn?"

Tavi has managed to get himself back to his feet after his fit of laughter, and is now looking around warily--almost frightened in his movements. After all, he was expecting a barn, not a bar--and the single letter difference was really far more than it seemed to be. Still, he noes the person watching him, and if he notes the shadow changing a little he decides to pretend he doesn't. It's kind of frightening.

"...Can I help you, sir?" He says, voice wavering a little, trying for politeness.

Tavi is just busy looking at Seimei in absolutely befuddlement. Everything--from clothing to appearance to what he just said--has Tavi a little intimidated and weirded out. He'll get over it, but this is just... weird. "You don't... look Aleran. Or Marat."

At the question about being cursed, though, Tavi shrinks back a very little bit. "...N-no. Not... not really. I'm never sick--Aunt Isana sees to that--and... and I'm probably just a slowbloomer in my furycrafting, so... no." It's fairly clear, from his unease and the slight dimming of his vibrant eyes, that he doesn't entirely believe what he just said.

"What's wrong with you?"

Tiny. Blond. Face as empty of emotion as a wood plate.

Tavi eyes him, taking in the strange clothing and appearance.

"...I... was supposed to be in a barn. And I'm not."

Leaning against the Door might not be the greatest idea, because other people sometimes open it. Like just now. Whoopsie.

Tavi scrambles off of Enzo and holds out a hand, not noticing the strange coloring yet (although the strange clothing is immediately apparent).

"I'm sorry about that. I wasn't expecting there to be... well, a place like this. Or anyone there."

"No problem," grunts Enzo, clasping Tavi's hand for leverage as he picks himself up. "You're a newbie? This is Milliways."

Tavi blinks as he pulls Enzo up. He doesn't feel human--and he doesn't look it, either, beyond the shape.

"...Milliways?" he says a little blankly, eyes wide. The boy is green. It's a green boy of some bizarre material.
