Laughing rather breathlessly, he manages to evade the fatherly onslaught long enough to get himself and the boat back under control.

Relatively speaking, anyway.

"Let's go!"

Over-enthusiasm, thy name is five-year-old.

Dennis's smile may or may not be morphing into a grin.

"You don't want to think about that?"

[littlehobbitfan]

So he thinks about it. For about five seconds.

"Nope."

[fatboyrun]

Definite grin. Still, he tempers it a bit.

"You wouldn't be able to tell people, you know, buddy. Besides Gordon."

[littlehobbitfan]

That dampens the enthusiasm a bit. But only a bit.

"I know. Just like here."

[fatboyrun]

"Exactly," says Dennis. "Think you could do that?"

[littlehobbitfan]

He actually does give this some proper thought.

"Yeah."

[fatboyrun]

Dennis is glad to see the pause; it means he's considered it.

"It's a deal, then," he says, and he extends a hand for shaking.

It is a lot for a little kid to keep secret.

"Deal."

He takes Dennis's hand and shakes.
